Barlow's Homemade Bread

Submitted by Cindy from UT

"This is a great homemade bread recipe that has been in our family for a number of years. Serve warm with butter and jam."

Ingredients:
2-3 cups hot tap water
1/3 cup oil
1/4-1/2 cups honey
1/2 tablespoon salt
8-9 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tablespoons instant yeast

Directions:
1. Mix water, oil, honey, and salt on high speed in a mixer for 30 seconds.

2. Stop machine and add 2-2 1/2 cups flour, run machine until it looks smooth like cake batter.

3. Stop machine and add the 1 1/2 tablespoons of instant yeast.

4. Continue to run the machine at slow speed while adding 1/2-1 cups of flour at a time. Continue this until the dough pulls away from the sides and bottom of the bowl.

5. Stop machine again and add 1-1 1/2 cups of flour on top and put lid on and run it at high speed for about 5 minutes.

6. The dough should fall right out of the bowl, put oil on the counter and oil on your hands, and use your hands to divide the dough into two loaves.

7. Put the dough in the oven at 150 degrees until the dough doubles in size, this usually takes about 20 mins.

8. Bake in bread pans for 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees.
